The Dakota is offered in two body styles, extended and crew cab, with a boldly styled hood, cross-haired grille similar to the Ram, a front fascia trimmed with brushed aluminum, flared fenders and powerful halogen headlamps. Dakota also offers an available rear spoiler, cargo-box top protection and utility rail/tie-down system.The Dakota comes standard with a 3.7 liter Magnum V6 engine that generates 210hp at 5,200rpm and 235lb.ft. of torque at 4,000rpm. The available 4.7 liter V8 incorporates two spark plugs per cylinder, like the 5.7 liter HEMI V8, which includes increased compression ratio, 9.0:1, improved cylinder head port flow and combustion system. It puts out 302hp 5,650rpm and 329lb.ft. of torque at 3,950rpm. The V8 is also equipped with electronic throttle control and is E85 compatible. The 3.7 liter Magnum V6 is backed by a standard four-speed automatic with OD, while a five-speed automatic OD transmission isstandard on V8 equipped models.The new 2010 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab pickup truck comes with bold Dodge styling, the most horsepower its class, with the versatility and capability for work or any type of lifestyle.Production numbers for pickup trucks continue to lead in all segments because they are the perfect work or play vehicle, and come in compact and full-size. Honda Insight Gets Tweaked Stop-Start System, Revised MPG Numbers

All this is confirmed for the UK markets, not sure why it wouldn't come here in North America....

Honda has made some improvements to the stop-start system on their Insight hybrid car, allowing drivers to keep the engine off for up to 3 times as long as previous years.

Insights before 2011 could keep the engine stopped for up to 30 seconds, but new improvements for this coming model year allow for the engine to be stopped for as long as 90 seconds. The initial figure was based on a “worst case scenario” of extreme humidity, a car full of passengers and poor weather, but Honda has now revised the rating.

The 90 second engine-off feature will help improve mileage in town by a noticeable amount.

Unfortunately, we’re not sure just how significant the improvement will be, as no official figures have been released yet.

CarScoop: Sneak Preview: Fortune Motorsports' SEMA-Bound Honda CR-Z

It's time for the tuning aficionados over at Fortune Motorsports to give us our first look at their customized Honda CR-Z that will be officially revealed at next week's SEMA Show. Even though this here picture is a computer generated rendering, the tuner claims its "almost 100% accurate" to what we'll see displayed on the floors of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The build incorporates a bodykit with front and rear spoilers, side skirts and race-like mirrors, as well as a carbon fiber hood and larger alloy wheels shod in low profile tires. The photo also reveals a lowered suspension and a pair of body-hugging bucket seats from Zeal.
Still no word if the tuner has fiddled around with the CR-Z's gasoline-electric hybrid system.

After escaping San Francisco bay area commuter traffic I found some open road driving along California’s scenic coastline. The 265 horsepower 3.5L V6 has more than adequate power to move the Edge up the hills or make the jump past slower traffic. The Duratec engine and 6-speed transmission engage smoothly and without any drama. I can easily see the Ford Edge being a comfortable vehicle for long road trips. Fuel economy is respectable considering the power output of the engine. EPA estimates are 18 city/25 highway. Observed gas mileage was 18 MPG during the test period with my lead-filled boots.
Settling into the driver’s seat the seating position feels high and is above most passenger vehicles. And that is a good thing when trying to peer over traffic or reaching to pull that parking ticket from the dispensing machine. Finding that perfect driving position is easy with the tilt/telescoping steering wheel and 6-way adjustable seats. The SE model has the cloth seats, but padding was comfortable and I wasn’t going to burn my tush on a hot summer day. I spent four hours driving the new Edge and had no problems with driver fatigue or a sore bum from sitting too long. Sitting in traffic is actually bearable with the comfortable seating and my iPod plugged into the stereo.Crossover vehicles are so cool because they don’t feel like a lumbering truck when running errands, but you get the benefits and functionality of an SUV. For the busy family in perpetual motion from swim lessons, to baseball practice and to Cub Scout meetings, the Ford Edge offers plenty of room for 5 passengers plus the cargo space to carry everyone’s gear. Add a strong V6 engine to the equation and the result is a well-rounded vehicle that works well for a variety of different situations. For the family guy that doesn’t want to give up his “cool” image by driving a minivan, a crossover SUV could be the right solution.
