In regards to the HR2 hybrid, BMW says, "The main modifications to the engine involve the fuel injection system adapted by BMW to the special attributes and requirements of hydrogen. The H2R Record Car benefits from the results gained in series development of BMW's future hydrogen engine for the world's first premium sedan built for dual-mode operation."
The BMW HR2 hybrid car performs with an output of 285 hp and with a top speed on 185 mph. Acceleration from zero to 60 mph takes approximately six seconds. For many, the modern definition of a Land Rover is the high-roofed SUV you see here, not necessarily the solid-axled mud-plugger that, in its current configuration, is sold nearly everywhere other than North America as a Defender.
But that doesn’t mean that these two vehicles don’t have a few things in common, as we learned a few months ago on some of the continent’s most difficult trails in the San Juan range in Southwestern Colorado.
To see if the latest Land Rover LR4 is as well-suited to cruising the streets of Boulder as it is to climbing over boulders, we sampled a 2011 Land Rover LR4 HSE for a decidedly on-road experience.
Review: 2011 Jaguar XJL

Jaguar took its time introducing its newest flagship to the world. Now that it’s here, the firm is trying to crash the European Big Three’s luxe-life party with its new Jaguar XJ. Does this swoopy new sedan score a bull’s eye or is it a hit that misses the target?
In short: This is not your rich Uncle Moneybag’s Jag.
Instead, what we have here is the Jag for the next millennium. We had a chance back in May to drive the new flagship in Los Angeles for a brief introductory spin, but we wanted to know more about the new flagship. To find out, we took a long-wheelbase XJL to Key Largo’s Ocean Reef Yacht Club for their 16th Annual Vintage Weekend. Read on to see if this leaper is the real deal, or just another pricey also-ran.

Your pick for 2011 Truck of the Year: Ford Explorer

Coming tomorrow: Your pick for Drive On 2011 Car of the Year
It's a tough call for us too. Three fine crossovers with different strengths and personalities that you could live with every day. Buying one likely would come down our occasional needs --ever go off the pavement? ever tow and how much? ever need a third row? etc.
Explorer was by far your biggest vote-getter, with 38% of the 3,600 votes. But Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee (25%) and Dodge Durango (14%) together tallied 39%. It was like the Oscars when two nominees from the same movie split the votes and a third gets Best Actress.
And 23% of you dissed all three -- and the auto writers who made them the finalists for the North American Truck of the Year award in two weeks -- for "other" trucks.
Our favorite "other": Any truck that's paid for. Wrote justanotherwb: "My vote goes to my '99 F-150 paid off nearly ten years ago and still running strong!!" From newday11: "I'll keep fixing my Explorer. And from DevilCat: "I'm with you, Newday. Will keep patching my Dodge Ram.. 241,000 miles and counting."
